Oregano Essential Oil

Oregano (origanum vulgare) is native and widely spread to the Mediterranean region. It belongs to the mint family (Lamiaceae) and grows mainly at low and medium altitude. Oregano is used mostly as a culinary herb and as tea. However, its main component is its essential oil. Its essential oil is therefore the main recognition and identification factor of oregano’s quality. The therapeutic properties of oregano essential oil are equally significant as those of the rest aromatic plants. Its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect is really important, as it is used to relieve cough symptoms and tooth pain. In addition, oregano essential oil soothes bloating and other similar digestive conditions, thanks to its antifungal properties.
